Floor pocket

A box recessed into the floor of (usually) the stage of a venue, complete with a hinged protective cover. The box usually contains microphone, monitor, and/or AC electrical connections in it. The box is deep enough so that the connectors don't stick up and the lid has a groove cut in it to allow the cables to exit onto the stage. Use of floor pockets keeps the stage clean looking, safe, and protects the various connectors.
