A salt lake whose waters contain in solution a high content of sodium sulfate and lesser amounts of the carbonates and chlorides ordinarily found in salt lakes; a lake whose water has a bitter taste. Examples include Carson Lake, NV, and the Great Bitter Lake in Egypt. AGI
