  1. A textile material used in ore treatment plants for catching coarse free gold and some associated minerals; e.g., pyrite. The blanket is taken up periodically and washed in a tub to remove the gold concentrate, from which the gold is recovered by amalgamation. CF: blanket deposit; blanket vein.
